hello everybody, I Just bought a new Toshiba laptop. Model # is A135-s4527.

It has Mcafee and a popup blocker istalled but i am not quite sure if all this anti-vruses and pop up blockers that had been pre-installed is good enough to protect my computer.

Do i need to buy anti-vrus softwares and pop-up blockers ?

Are all this pre-installed mcafee in my computer good enough to protect my computer?

Thanks for your answers...

use a software firewall like zonealarm and run a couple of freeware antispyware applications like adaware, spybot, and avg ..

Pop-up blockers are built into Internet Explorer these days, it is dumb to you double-up on it. The software with new computers is usually expired after 30-90 days. I would uninstall all of it and purchase just an anti-virus package from McAfee or Norton without all the unneeded extras. Also make sure you have run all Microsoft Updates. WIndows has built in firewall, so you dont need anymore of that either. Trust me. I practisr what I preach and have a fast virus and popup free computer. It is good to run an anti-malware scan once in a while, like Ad-Aware or Windows Defender.

You will know you are fully protected when you stop getting spam, and viruses.

You have a pop up blocker installed.

No Mcafee, is not enough in itself, you need ani spyware also. You also need regular anti virus and spyware updates.

McAfee will Automatically detact a threat on ur system in the matter of seconds, i am saying this from what i saw with McAfee, and I use McAfee because its a good Software.

Also you dont have to Pay everymonth to use McAfee its like $50 a year, don't fall for free antivirus.

Wiping your computer clean is NOT the solution.

Asking /paying someone else to fix the problem is NOT the solution .

i personally don't like mcafee. but the more protection you have the better. if you use internet, get all the protection you can because you are never ever fully protected from the internet.

spybot search and destroy is a good one. $50 a year and well worth the money.

pop up blocker is a must.

your going to need to get rid of that virus or malware that has seeded itself into your computer. No single anti virus/ anti spy ware program should be considered a all in one solution. Get avast and AVG anti spy ware/ antivirus on top of your mccafe also look for something called malwarebites antivirus / spywhare. O also you will need a fair share of luck.

first of all, use Firefox, its way more advance and safe.

you will be perfectly protected with these

for spyware scanner

http://www.filehippo.com/download_spybot_search_destroy/

for firewall(it does the most and blocks everything, its been rated the best of them all)

http://www.filehippo.com/download_comodo/

for virus scanner(it even asks you what you want to do with the virus before it gets downloaded)

http://www.filehippo.com/download_antivir/

this allows you to see what sites are safe and not safe on google, yahoo, etc, and the toolbar it adds is very helpful

http://www.siteadvisor.com/

this will clean youre comp uf undeleted portions of files you think are gone and cleans a lot of cache, etc

I wouldn't keep mcafee unless you want to pay. Like every month you have to pay to keep using mcafee. Try uninstalling it and installing AVG or another free anti virus.
