How do I stop the computer from sending me this message?

Every time I go onto a website on my computer the message pops up 'Do you want to allow software such as ActiveX controls and plug-ins to run?' with the options of 'yes' and 'no'. Is there any way of stopping the computer doing this?

It is your Windows security/Internet explorer that's giving you the message.
You can change the security level in the Internet exploler. Internet explorer>Tools>Internet Options>Security>Custom... Uncheck the box that says Active X controls .. Prompt.
Or you can really lower your security level to medium or low medium.

Firstly the ActiveX message is a warning, it is asking your permission to download the content as some activeX content can contain code that can affect the way your PC works or compromise its security.
You can stop it from asking the question and just let it download it anyway by downgrading the security options, but before you do this you need to be sure that you "trust" every site you visit and download content from. Most activeX content is just to allow the download of data streaming video content particular to the website, or to give permissions to download files you have requested (Microsoft Downloads for example). So effectively you allow any website to allow it to install anything on your PC, it is better (from a safety point of view) to keep saying yes or no as appropriate.

I think it is also a question of whether you trust the site that prompted the message. If you are visiting an unknown site, it might be safer to heed the warning, and not allow the ActiveK. However, if it is a site that you would trust, you might allow the ActiveX, as it might be necessary for the site to function fully.

Cyberdoc has provided the answer!
However you better be sure you want to turn this off! The reason it is the default setting (yes or no) is to prevent/reduce the chance of malicious software infecting your computer!
Have a look at the following for more information.

There is usually a box to tick on the pop up asking if you want to be asked every time. Check this and tick as necessary.
