my computer have been attack by a virus but i do not know how to removed it . it corrupted my wins xp and i have to format the whole hdd (not a single partition as usual) and even now trace of it is still visible (the new wins xp is unstable-frequent crash, antivirus software, games, application, firewall mostly will not be able to be install on first try and sometimes the setup.exe even corrupted . Avg wont be able to be install since it crash 3 times already while installing. not to mention the wins xp refused to be install while in formatting process (it kept saying 'fail to copy from...' until i delete all previous partition). My friend have check the my whole hardware and all of them are working properly(and he is junior instructor in computer maintenance in a private college but cant do much in software problem) . So what do you think?

If you have done a complete hard drive format, you shouldn't have any traces of the virus on it. Have you done a hard drive check to see if your hard drive is going bad? How old is the hard drive in question? If you think you have a virus still hanging about, pay the money for an anti-virus program that will check your system before it installs. Instead of formatting from windows, do your formatting from command line.
