2011-06-18 17:48:49 UTC
I think my computer is infected right now idk what happened. I accidently allowed one of the fake security alert popups and it lead me to weird things and I figured it was fake. and now more popups that are posing as windows security is coming up and now my firefox(which used to work because i had problems with the internet) won't even open because the "vista security 2012 firewall alert" popup comes up and tells me to activate it. so...basically I can't do anything on my computer without encountering that stupid popup and at this point I'm REALLY REALLY frustrated and is willing to do anything that will fix this....please help. I looked at some other yahooanswers but I can't even get web access on my desktop (I'm using my laptop right now-virus free so its working) so I can't download any antiverus programs or anything. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP! ANY TECHIES OUT THERE!

do this wont take 5 minutes ok, download revouninstaller portable from cnet ok install it toa memory stick and run it from the memory stick enter hunter mode it will give you a target on your screen drop it on one of them processes end process and then download malwarebytes and update it then run full scan, now you could also try to boot to safe mode by hitting f8 on boot and downloading malwarebytes and scanning there but some of this rogue software can be a pain thats why i suggest people use revouninstaller first because sometimes people cant get on the internet on that computer while the rogue is active so they can download revouninstaller to a memory stick from another computer and run it off the memory stick on the infected computer hope this helps message me if you need further help.

No huge deal guy. do no longer problem. merely move to regulate panel>eliminate software>opt for the single which announces safe practices toolbar (or savealot search for bar and different commercial bar) because they ought to no longer effectual yet those toolbars are merely designed to make you belive that there is a virulent disease yet there is not any longer . so that you'll eliminate that toolbar from the eliminate software determination or you are able to also move to c:programfiles and delete unknown folders (at the same time with unknown service or the folder call that you do not note of that you made it). I had an same concern previously... And do get somekind of virus software to boot because the web safe practices because they help you eliminate those issues...good day.

There are also removal instructions on Y/A if you search for "XP security 2011". The only way I know to kill the process is to alter the specified registry key per the previous posters link.
