each time I try to log into my files on to my school site it won't let me. It tells me to enter my username right? I enter it and each time the thing to enter the username and password pops up blank and asks for again and under it it says

Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection).
How the heck can I do that?

Are you absolutely certain that's what it says?

Normally, "log-in" to services of higher value, utilize SSL (secure) and doing the opposite is counter-intuitive, and ill-advised.

2 possible scenarios come to me:

You've got some kind of re-direct malware trying to defeat the SSL connection (usually associated with phishing), or;

The website is completely screwed up, and is doing the opposite of what it should be, which is conducting log-in's over SSL.

(sometimes schools use 'interns' to maintain websites, and these rookies get things goofed up)

Better call the school after you run scans and see what up.
