ok so, i can't have an internet browser open for 5 seconds without getting a pop up. I have tried 3 programs. None of which worked. Although, i used yahoo anti-spy and there are 3 things it won't let me delete. I know that's it but I just can't get rid of it. Someone help =[. Please. Give me a step by step or something. One thing is a downloader, another is spyware, and the last one is adware. Here are the programs i've used: Ad-aware, norton anti-virus, cyberdefender, and yahoo anti-spy

to block popups you need a popup blocker. You dont say what browser you are using, but almost all modern browsers have popup blocking built in, so have you turned it off? Or are you using a really obscure/old browser?

Well, the easiest thing to do is first to download firefox (which manages this stuff quite gracefully). You can get that here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

Install it, and after that popups should be hidden, with just a little bar appearing saying one has been blocked.

If they still happen a lot, you probably have an infection. Get a decent virus checker - throw away norton which has the sole function of making you feel safe (even though youre not), and download the free version of avast! here: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html and install and run it.

Download spybot search and destroy here: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/ install and run it.

Download spyware blaster here: http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/sbdownload.html and install it. It runs in the background and protects you all the time.

Do you have a firewall (apart from the free one that comes with windows)? If not, download this one: http://www.simtel.net/product.download.mirrors.php?id=53687

load it up, run it, and turn off the windows one.

Then, finally, run adaware again (after getting the latest update), you should get a clean bill of health.

Run one of adaware, avast and spybot search and destroy every week, and every fourth week find a free online virus checker (choose from trend, panda and bitdefender) and run that as well. Different checkers find different things, and doing it this way will give you a much better chance of catching and removing malware early.

Any time your computer starts acting slow or strange, run at least one of your checkers, and if they dont find anything, or your computer is still acting up, use an online checker till you have found the source of the problem.

Does all this sound paranoid? Believe me there was never a truer saying than "Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get you"

This spyware "warning" from windows, is actually a thirdparty program trying to get you to purchase some bogus anti-spyware software. You really only have to options at this point, taking your computer into a expert and paying a hefty fee. Or (And im not promising you anything, but this did work for me) trying some software like ad-ware or http://Spywareremoval.w57.net

Hi, wats up? Do the following steps to fix ur pc:

1. disable system restore

2. restart in safe mode.

3. visit http://onecare.live.com and run Microsoft's free safety scanner to remove all viruses, trojans, spyware, and malware as well as registry errors.

4. restart in normal mode.

5. download these tools:

AVG Anti virus: http://free.grisoft.com

Spybot: http://www.download.com

Comodo Firewall: http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com...

6. update and scan with these tools.

7. now restart windows again.

8. enable system restore and create a new restore point but I recommend that u should disable it for good as it slows down pc performance and allows viruses to create a back up of themselves so they may be restored as well.

Now ur pc should be all right.

Good Luck!

OS Reinstallation vs. Virus Removal

http://safecomputing.umn.edu/guides/rebuild_repair.html

If you follow all the following steps it probably will get rid of your problem and prevent future problems. All programs listed are free.

------------------------------

Update your Full Time (Active) antivirus and run a full scan.

If you do not have active virus protection, install only one. All are excellent.

AVG Antivirus 7.5 Free Edition

http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/avg-anti-virus-free/lng/us/tpl/v5

http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10669237.html?tag=lst-0-1

or

Free antivirus - avast! 4 Home Edition

http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

or

Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic

http://www.free-av.com/

http://www.download.com/3120-20_4-0.html?tg=dl-20&qt=Avira&tag=srch

---------------------------------------------------------

Update your Full Time (Active) spyware protection and run a full scan. If you do not have active spyware protection, install:

Windows Defender

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

---------------------------------------------------------

Install the following four programs and run weekly or at least monthly. You need all four. They are not a substitute for full time spyware and virus protection. They will greatly increase your protection. Install and run now.

Ad-Aware SE Personal (update + full scan)

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php

Spybot Search & Destroy (update + immunize + scan)

Do not enable Tea Timer and SDHelper

After installation: update + scan + immunize

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html

SpywareBlaster: Update then open and click “enable all protection”.

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

SUPERAntiSpyware free version: (update + scan)

http://www.superantispyware.com/

------------------------------

Install:

CCleaner:

http://www.ccleaner.com/

Do not install optional toolbar.

Removes tracking cookies, unneeded files, history

In options.

Set to run when computer starts.

Place cookies you want to keep in save list

-------------------------------------------------

Install either one not both:

McAfee Site Advisor: Internet Explorer and Firefox

http://www.siteadvisor.com/

McAfee SiteAdvisor helps protect you from all kinds of Web-based security threats including spyware, adware, spam, viruses, browser exploits, and online scams.

TrendProtect™

http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/free_security_tools/trendprotect.php

TrendProtect is a FREE browser plug-in that helps you avoid Web pages with unwanted content and hidden threats.

--------------------------------

Note if a scan detects a problem but is unable to remove, start the computer in safe mode with the internet line disconnected and run a full scan.

In severe cases your system restore files will also be infected. In these cases you will need to turn off system restore to prevent malware hiding in the system restore files and reinfecting the computer during removal or during a future system restore. Turning off system restore deletes the system restore files.

Right click on "my computer"> Properties > System Restore Tab > Check box turn of system restore

After the malware is removed turn on system restore.

------------------------------

Run this time:

CWShredder: run
