Yahoo email is typically a great email to use. If you use a good password that is hard to crack then Yahoo is your best bet. The interface is organised and the customisations are endless. Gmail is often used in a lot of areas including IOS and Android. But Yahoo can often be substituted for that as well. I never really used Hotmail but I have heard that it is good.

I would recommend Yahoo and Hotmail over any other emailing service available.

Encrypted mail-not as secure & private as you think.

Which leads to this article: Easily encrypt Gmail [Chrome & Firefox have encryption add-on's]; http://blogs.computerworld.com/encryption/21363/easily-encrypt-gmail

With e-z instructions, screenshots, etc.

"Encipher it" for Firefox is here: https://encipher.it/help#install

Note you will need to accept the Certificate, and always look for 'https' in the address pre-fix before interacting with the service.

"Mailvelope" also looks interesting:

"Hushmail" has a free service, but has some stipulations of utilizing it...but not real difficult. Premium accounts avail.

Jumble is a free Google Chrome plugin that encryption your mail using a 256-bit key. It's free and works great for me. You can try it if you have a Gmail account. Really simple and functional.
