a free registry fix at http://errorfixnow.com/lp.php?t202id=322&t202kw=wmp11%20avi%20codecs%3F%3F&kw=Windows%20Media%20Player%20Avi%20how%20to&26371969623&b&seed=Windows-Media-Player&Windows-Media-Player-Avi&

I downloaded this but don't have the guts to install it.Any reader know if this will help rather than hinder? I also have Klite codec pack and am wondering the same for that.

nope, fake.

ANY, and i repeat: ANY program that offers to "Fix Your Registry" is a fraud of the worst kind. it will ALWAYS pop up with problems, even if none exist, and offer the fixes for money.

even the free ones don't really do anything worth doing. unless you know what you're doing in the registry, you can really break your computer, and there is NO REGISTRY PROGRAM IN THE WORLD that can tell what all of the millions upon millions of registry entries do without actually checking it in person.

that is a job for someone who knows the registry inside and out, and if you are seriously having enough computer problems that the REGISTRY is involved, you would be better off just reinstalling Windows.

fact.

It's a scam to get you to pay for a program that can't help you in any way. The registry does not need "fixing". Even free registry cleaners are a waste of time. They don't "fix" anything. All they do is delete some obsolete entries or keys in the registry.....and that accomplishes nothing and has no affect on performance.

k-lite is sake.

My scan shows that it's clean and virus free - however I wouldn't use such tools without having a windows partition back up and restore option in place first.

You want to scan downloads before you download? You can use this:

Just right click any download link or button to check what you're getting before you download.

I am not sure, but it appears like it will make you pay to fix your problems.

A much better alternative is CCleaner. It is 100% safe, updated almost weekly, and does more than just fix the registry for your computer.

All it takes is 2 clicks to fix your registry or clean it.

Check it out here: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

No, it will not work. I have had it before and my Antivirus detected it as a virus in my registry marked as "CRITICAL" .

Klite codec pack is safe.

most of these super quick fox programs are scams or infect the machine. NEVER use them. The only fix that is safe on the registry is to remove un linked (empty) entries to prevent them wasting resources with dead information. For that download ccleaner.exe from http://piriform.com. THE safe registry tool.
