What is the most secure linux distro by default?

I am looking for the most secure linux to install and will be secure by the default installation.

Most distros are secure. It is usually the users that creates the security holes, eg 777 permissions on publicly viewable files, weak user/root passwords. Any distro will do fine but you need to turn off services you don't need, a process known as hardening. Do a sudo nmap localhost to see what ports you have open and close it if you don't need it.

I would have to say that Fortress Linux would be the distro though it is not out just yet : http://www.fortresslinux.org/



Red Hat/CentOS/Fedora/Engarde would probably be the next runners up as they have SElinux active by default.

most Linux distros by default are very secure.ubuntu.mint.open susse are all very secure as long as you don't go out of your way to defeat the way permission's are set up.like do not run as root unless you really have to or download untrusted .deb files.i use windows 7 for games but most of my work is done on ubuntu .very secure.

I would say Ubuntu. It is also very user-friendly and has many functions.
