I have a Ipod Nano 5G, a USB 4 GB and a USB 2GB. All are messed up with this AutoRun.inf and SyStEm.exe problem. I've figured out that if you plug them into a mac you can delete the infected files and then plug it into a PC and it works! But once you unplug it from your computer and plug it back in, it's infected. I've tried over and over and it still recreates itself. I also tried deleting autorun.inf with the cmd, attrib autorun.inf -s -h -r then using del autorun.inf. it sort of works, but when I try to open it, it says CANNOT FIND SyStEm.exe and when I right click on it, this pops up.

THIS IS THE LIST IN ORDER OF THE OPTIONS WHEN RIGHT CLICKED ON.

AUTOPLAY
AutoPlay
Explore
Open
Search...

ect...

The problem is, is that it shows 2 Autoplays. When I click on the second one, it gives me the autoplay options. And at the top of it it says " Open Folder to view Files Using Explorer using the Program Provided on the Device"... THERE IS NO PROGRAM ON THE DEVICE! When I try Explore, nothing happens, when I try open, nothing happens. when I click on the first AUTOPLAY option, nothing happens.

I REALLY NEED HELP! I've tried everything I could find on the internet. I've tried scanning the device with Nortan, Avast, Spyware Hunter, AVG, and PC Doctor. They all say it's fine.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!! I'm about to smash MY FACE into this DAMNED COMPUTER!!!!!!!!!

Thanks,
Arlen

You can also download a copy of Linux on a CD and run that to clean your flash drives. I suggest Puppy Linux simply because of it's small size and it is easy to use. It's only about a 100Mb download and will boot on most any machine from a Live CD.

Your real problem is your computer. It is infecting and apparently re-infecting your flash drives. Run a good anti-virus scan and that should get rid of the problem. I usually suggest AVG, but Avira, malwarebytes, and several others should also do the job. All have free versions so there is no reason why you can't install one of them and keep your computer protected.

As far as not finding files, this depends greatly on settings. Windows won't allow you to access system and hidden files if you don't tell Windows Explorer to show hidden and system files and folders. For most people it is best if this is left off, but for this kind of problem you need to see all the files. These settings are in the tools/options advanced section and I'm thinking it varies a bit depending on which version of Widows you have. You should just need to check a box to turn them on or off and it is kind of a long list.

If you are using Linux or a Mac you should have no trouble finding the files and deleting them.

If the flash drives are clean and they get infected when you plug them into your computer, perhaps your computer has the virus source. Do a good scan on your computer first to try to remove the source of the virus. The flash drive can wait.

You forgot MalwareBytes.com - try a scan with that on your computer as well.
