I found the program "Offic14.mgc" on my pc during a recent security scan. Is it safe?

Also found "Mstore14.mgc" as well. Are they safe?

Offic14.MGC is a system file and shared by several programs, which plays an important role in maintaining Windows operating system running smoothly. It helps relevant .exe file performs its task and makes sure the operating system could access to the correct data. Sometimes, a removal or uninstallation of a program would cause Kernel.32.dll file missing or corrupted, so that the Offic14.MGC file which shared by programs would be removed along with the removal. This is the main cause of Offic14.MGC error.



Repairing:

1)Replacing the Offic14.MGC file is probably the surest way to get your system running as smoothly as possible again. You can do this very easily by following the guide below:



2)Download Offic14.MGC from a reliable website (or you can copy the same file from another computer). Warm tip: Please make sure if it is the correct Offic14.MGC file that your system requires and if it is virus-free.

3)Browse to c:\Windows\System32

4)Locate the current Offic14.MGC on your system

5)Rename the current Offic14.MGC to Kernel32BACKUP.dll

6)Copy & paste the new Offic14.MGC into C:\Windows\System32

7)Click Start > Run (Or search"run" on Vista & Win7)

8)Type "cmd" in the box that appears

9)Type "regsvr32 Offic14.MGC" on the black screen

10)Press "Enter" button to install Offic14.MGC file, if you have installed the Offic14.MGC file successfully, you might receive a message saying that the file installed successfully. Click OK to finish the installation.

11)Now that you have removed it.Scan the pc with antivirus

Completely safe. They are both part of the Microsoft Office 2010 Suite. Office14.mgc is used for the Microsoft Office Client Virtualization Handler, while Mstore14.mgc is used for Microsoft Office Clip Organizer.



If you have half a brain, do not navigate to the website the Holly S posted in her response. It's going to tell you that ANYTHING on your computer is malicious and to download their software to fix it. It's a scam site trying to tell software, and will cause more problems then good.

Upload it to: https://www.virustotal.com/en/ , if it comes back as malware (I would say over 4 anti-virus detections) then you can delete it.

No not at all. Delete these files right away. They can cause malfunctioning in your pc.
