I was just rolling around the interwebz when out of no where antispyware soft comes up... It kept shooting pop-ups at me, claiming that my computer was infected. So my first thought was, "when in doubt, google it!" Turns out that it's making my IE fail. So here I am, running firefox, checking around for it on my computer... I can't seem to find it anywhere, and the pop-ups and everything that came with it seem to be gone. The only problem is, now IE still isn't working. I try to open it and it says, "The remote device or resource won't accept the connection." So now I'm just wondering if this is a byproduct of the antispyware soft program, and if it is, how do I fix it? (I'm running windows 7 by the way)

Go to Filehippo.com

Get Ccleaner ( its free, it works, its upgradable)

Chances are its still on your hard drive somewhere. The program ccleaner should help find it and get it off.

After that also from filehippo get spybot search and destroy. Great spyware finder and it will delete them as well. Unlike a lot of the others that only quarantine the problem and use up hd space. Also completely upgradable and free. I have used it on my e machine for a while now. And it works very well. I'm sure you already know not to have more then 1 antivirus or antispyware program running at a time.

Another program I have used and it works very well but it takes a lonnnnnng time is trend micro housecall. This ones an online scanner and its free.

The reason I'm telling you all this is when I got those pop ups I got a virus. Long time ago. And they just kept coming till I got spybot s-d. Hope something here helps.

Step by step instructions for FREE removal of AntiSpyware Soft.

1. Restart your computer. As your computer restarts but before Windows launches, tap "F8" key constantly. Use the arrow keys to highlight the "Safe Mode with Networking" option and then press ENTER.

2. Open Internet Explorer. Click on the Tools menu and then select Internet Options.

3. In the the Internet Options window click on the Connections tab. Then click on the LAN settings button.

4. Now you will see Local Area Network (LAN) settings window. Under Proxy Settings, click the Advanced button, and delete the IP address listed there, and press OK. Uncheck the checkbox labeled Use a proxy server for your LAN under the Proxy Server section and press OK.

5. Download SuperAntiSpyware Free edition at http://www.superantispyware.com/ . Perform a quick scan and quarantine everything. It will tell you it has to reboot which is fine to do in normal mode this time.

6. Now back in normal mode, run SAS again, this time doing a complete scan. You should now be rid of this annoying malware. Quarantine anything it finds, and then go to your quarantine log and remove (delete) all quarantined items.

7. Sometimes the trojan that installed this annoying thing also installs a browser hijacker which will cause google and yahoo search items to mysteriously redirect to advertised sites. The only way to get rid of this was with Combofix which you can find at http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe .

Download this and run it (have patience).

8. Many antivirus applications that failed to detect this thing in the first place (I use AVG) become inactivated by the virus and may need to be reinstalled. I recommend a complete uninstall/reinstall to make sure that it's back working again.

Antivirus Soft is a rogue anti-spyware and ransomware program from the same family as Antispyware Soft. These infections are installed on to your computer through the use of malware that installs the program onto your computer without your permission or knowledgeIt is also common for this rogue to be installed on your computer through the use of malicious PDF files that exploit known vulnerabilities in older versions of Adobe Reader. Once installed, Antivirus Soft will be configured to start automatically when Windows starts. Once running it will scan your computer and display numerous infections, but will state it will not remove them until you purchase the program. In reality, the infected files it detects are all fake and do not actually exist on your computer.
