I'm moving to a new country and I have a collection of 77 DVD's and I paid a lot for them so I was thinking to put them all in a carry on luggage, If they go through airport security, will they get damaged? For example will the media in them be erased or damaged in any other way?

................Never heard that before. I would say you are pretty safe. If you are that concerned about it, call up the airport, ask to speak to someone in charge of security, and ask if the security messes up DVD's. If this makes you feel better, imagine this. Millions of people fly everyday, and you are going to tell me that nobody has ever brought a DVD through security. If it was a problem, it would be a bigger issue. So I would say you are pretty safe.

No. CDs and DVDs aren't affected by radio waves (which X-rays are a part of) any more than other plastic is.

Hope that helps.

They will be fine, nothing will be damaged or erased.

no, they'll be fine. it's magnets that damage media storage devices, not x-rays
