When you send the powerpoint that you made in the 2003 version your dad could open it with no problems in the 2007 version.

However the 2003 version would not be abe to open the 2007 version if it is saved as a 2007 version extension (.pptx). To ensure that you can open your Office PowerPoint 2007 presentation (.pptx) in an earlier version of PowerPoint, you can save a copy of it that is compatible with PowerPoint 97-2003.

-- In Office PowerPoint 2007, open the presentation that you want to save as a PowerPoint 97-2003 file.

-- Click the Microsoft Office Button Button image button, point to the arrow next to Save As, and then click PowerPoint 97-2003 Presentation.

-- The Save As dialog box appears.

-- In the File name box, enter a name for your presentation, or do nothing to accept the suggested file name.

-- In the Save in list, select the location that you want to save your presentation to, or do nothing to accept the suggested location.

-- Click Save.

The file is saved as a PowerPoint 97-2003 Presentation (.ppt) file that you can open in PowerPoint 97 through 2003 and you can open the file from your dad's computer

Hello, you PowerPoint 2003 presentation could view it well on PowerPoint 2007, but there are something you should note:

There are serval disadvantages of attaching a PowerPoint presentation to Email.

1. Big file size. It is difficult for delivery.

2. All the linked files will not show on other computers. Such as music, video, and so on.

If there is no linked files on your presentation, you can just send it your dad. If you have some questions about email PowerPoint, please go to this guide:

Opening a 2003 created file in 2007 will be fine.

From 2007 to 2003 is/can be slightly different though. 2007 saves files by default in the new .pptx and .ppsx formats, which 2003 will not be able to open natively (You can install a compatibility pack which would allow those files to open), or when saving in 2007, save the files as .pps or .ppt (without the X on the end). Those will open in 2003 and previous versions of PowerPoint.

Hope that makes sense.

2003 can be opened with 2007

But 2007 cannot be opened with 2003 unless when saving you down-save it as a 2003 file format. To do this, click "save as" and in the drop-down next to "type", "save as type" or "format" select the 2003 format and save.
