I have a Windows 7 laptop that's about a year old with Microsoft Security Essentials that was updated yesterday. We looked it up in microsoft's database to find out what the program was. I've ran a scan and nothing has come up. We aren't sure what to do and we are getting desperate. I really don't want to install another program to remove it though. Please help we don't know what to do.

My mom is going to try running a restore to four days back, we aren't sure if it will work though.

I would suggest that you run another scan with Microsoft Security Essentials, but I would suggest that you set it to "Full System Scan", if you haven't done so already.

If you are still unable to remove this computer virus, perhaps you should try running an antimalware scan with MalwareBytes, which is a free program that can be downloaded from the link below.

Also, perhaps you should try using Mozilla FireFox, which is a free browser that is safer than Internet Explorer and can also be customized with a variety of add-ons and themes. If you would like to try using Mozilla FireFox, you can download it from the link below.

If you are unable to download or run any programs because your computer is infected with a computer virus or other malicious file or program or if you don't want to install any other programs, I would suggest that you try booting your computer into Safe Mode with Networking by pressing F8 while your computer is booting up and then try to either run another antivirus scan or download and run any programs.

Good luck and I hope I helped you!

Never use system restore to try getting rid of a virus, it doesn`t work and can make things worse, a lot of viruses hide in system restore.

If Essentials isn`t finding anything, you really do need to download another program, try Malwarebytes free version, it can find things that Essentials doesn`t.

Download, update it and run a quick scan, choose to remove all selected when the scan finishes, then run a full scan and do the same.

If this doesn`t clear it add additional info to your question and state name of your computer.

EDIT.

As already said, if the virus won`t let you download try safe mode with networking.

I`ve just googled the virus though, and it might be pretty hard to get rid of.

If it was my computer I would boot into safe mode and copy any files I needed to keep, to cd/memory card/external, and restore to factory settings.

This would get rid of any viruses and have your computer running like new.
