Why do I keep receiving text messages from random e mail addresses?

Just recently I have been getting text messages on my phone from email addressed that I don't recognize. All the messages are blank or say no content. The emails are from either hotmail or msn accounts. To me they seem like they may be bots because the names of the account read for example: [e-mail]. Is this anything I should be concerned about? Is there any way I can find out the reason for me suddenly getting these messages and how to make them stop sending them to me?

It's texting equivelant of spam. I get a some for a short burst and then suddenly nothing for awhile. They hope you reply to it to verify the account is active and real. Just delete and ignore for now. Not much else you can do.
