They say Don’t Install Internet Explorer Version 7 ? Read.

I have seen all over public forums and boards in the security areas since Internet Explorer (nickname IE) Version 7 was released - the criminal, malicious, and profiteers apparently telling everyone not to install / upgrade IE 7. Even IT Security in business networks running the same idiocracy. I am addressing the Phisher Scams that apparently uninformed dumb-butt Americans were just robbed of over 3 Billion Dollars !!! Only recently is the security industry admitting or acknowledging “cyber gumshoes” - here the bad guys, cyber criminals. They are very good and ALWAYS give advice for free antispyware and antivirus software as your best security solution because there is no real time protection in the free versions and the crimeware waltzes right in to the unprotected and most likely unpatched machine. They always bad mouth “Micro$oft” and their products and raise hellish rants to never install Windows Updates. They will pull up the way less than even One percent of flukes on these that consumers may have had some buggy install - and that is generally because of some inordinate configuration of their computers either by novice ignorance and error - or actually some hack whiz they thought. It has been that rare that Windows Updates ever had conflicts with other programs withy Windows Updates. Again, this can be as simple as not updating drivers and applications as well.

The criminal cyber gumshoes (working the world web streets) always try to come off as alternate Operating System big shots or tech-savvy intellectuals that you would never dare presume to challenge or correct for the sake of a member seeking help. They fight the good guys in idiot arguments that sound very computer programmer correct. They preach unattended open source project softwares - free stuff. They preach the alternates - Linux Open Source Free/Donate Operating System and Apple/Mac while the entirely attempt to convince the uninformed through their “troll trashing” of their “devil” Bill Gates.. and oh boy do they LOVED to curse Bill Gates and Microsoft and Windows !

They will always have some work-around and even recommend third party unstable and unproved Patch/Fix/Updates for sale that are foreign to the quite locked Windows Operating System as if they were smarter than Microsoft and deem theirselves the diaper cleaner of them in a Zero Day exploit instead of Microsoft Windows Updates. Case in point were the last whopping three, three, yes three Zero Day exploits titled WMF metafile, VML exploit, and the last .ANI Cursor exploit. If YOU listened to these people to keep an Unpatched Windows the result of the first introduced “ransomware” that hijacked the system wanting about 30 dollars to get rid of fake infections that had names like SpyAxe, SpyFalcon, SpywareQuake and on and on and on now - that walked right through an Unpatched and Unprotected machine (no real time paid antivirus and firewall and antispyware installed - just free stuff).

DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT “HEURISTICS” IS/ARE ???

Free protection antivirus and antispyware without real time protection (heuristics) activated in paid yearly subscriptions is like a Club without a bouncer or with a bouncer on the outside that more or less lets anyone in. Paid subscription (shareware) programs are like bouncers inside and outside of the Club and take absolutely no stuff from anyone. If someone gets in they are promptly thrown out headlong. THIS IS WHAT IS IN THE INTERNET EXPLORER VERSION 7 - PLEASE UPGRADE IMMEDIATELY IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY !!! READ ON…

Reflect back to anyone at any of those places were YOU may have listened to BAD ADVICE that was given to you quite on purpose and kept your IE Version 6 SP2 (Service Pack 2). And here is the result - phisher scams rip off USA for over 3 billiondollars!!! Note that the closest thing to this was when Earthlink released their Anti-Scam toolbar. Of course when it comes to computer programmer code - well your common sense argument is that OBVIOUSLY Microsoft has the tops in the world as EVERYONE who is a criminal is trying to crack continually. No one else could “boast” of that OBVIOUSLY.. I mean in other words is the underworld beating a path to your door ? Well then think about that because they are at Microsoft’s - meaning their programming code has been tops since the beginning as the ONLY computer disk system being Unix Certified (virtual secure and stable) - the others - Apple/Mac and Linux - only achieving “Unix-Like” awardings. So point is, Microsoft is the top programming codes of the world OBVIOUSLY and you are listening to who ? When Microsoft recommends you do something - you do it knowing they ARE the experts of disk computer code ! The others.. and you are ????

Features unique to Windows Vista

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/ie/features.mspx

These features are available only with Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vista:

* Protected mode Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vista runs in isolation from other applications in the operating system. It restricts exploits and malicious software from writing to any location beyond Temporary Internet Files without explicit user consent.

* Parental controls To help keep kids safer online, parents can control browsing behavior through the parental control settings built into Windows Vista. The child’s safety level can be monitored and changed remotely. The safety level carries over to many PC activities, such as playing games or browsing the Internet. A child’s browsing session can even be examined by a parent afterwards, and cannot be removed without the parent’s permission.

Too much, too litle, too late… you will have to start over and this time stay with your home “phone company”. Have they ever let you down ? BCPCNet-WebLog, webmaster.

Good answers kind of, but side stepping the main security issue. Did U Know that Firefox was actually listed as "riskware" a couple years ago (now 2014)???? Bet U did not know that. Internet Explorer has NEVER received the lowest security rating as that.

Dude, have you actually done any reading apart from this, one, article? there is a huge amount of information on the net comparing the two main browsers that goes into the detail of pros and cons of each. its not like IE7 is 'better' than ff2. To make a claim like this is, frankly, stupid. Each browser has its own pros and cons. Its evident in the literature that firefox users prefer its speed and customisability - both aspects that ie7 lacks.

I use FF because I don't like the way IE does some things (It has been a long time, so I don't recall the details why I switched). I also can use FF on Linux (and share bookmarks on all machines I have with Foxmarks).

I also used to do tech support for M$ (thru a subcontractor) and did tech support for IE as well - a long time ago - and I didn't like it then!
