You can only get rid of them when upgrading if you format your hard drive ,otherwise they will still be there ,try moving your important data to an external disk and format your drive when upgrading.

I agree with the above. You should really just save any important documents on an external HD and reformat and install a fresh OS.

Not only will this make installation go smoother, but you will remove any viruses/trojans/malware.

Might as well spend the few extra hours for a little more piece of mind. Before reformatting, make sure you have all the drivers for the computer!!!

No, absolutely not... and if you have an infection, there is a very good chance the upgrade would fail, leaving you with an un-bootable computer.

Get SAS from http://www.superantisypware,

The 30 trial version of NOD32 from http://www.eset.com

and Spybot Search and Destroy from http://www.safer-networking.org

Run each, 1 at a time, and let them clean up anything they find. Reboot your machine and run them again... if they still find stuff after the reboot, report back here.

The best anti virus and spyware. download it here http://www.kaspersky.com/trials then click on free internet security download thats only for 30 days trial good luck. Install it to your pc. Then do a scan in safe mode.

You should only upgrade a clean computer, if its not clean then you really will have trouble.
