Question:
Email Virus when double clicking email? Or by just clicking Email Attachment?

So I'm just curious about this since i accidentally double clicked an email which is sort of suspicious.

Is it possible to get a virus from an email from just double clicking on the email, without clicking the email attachment. Or does the Email Attachment open up automatically?

I have Defender Pro 1-5, and ran their anti virus program, and it shows it's clean, and running Malware Bytes (mind you that this also comes with Defender Pro 1-5, and does not conflict with Defender Pro 1-5).

Right now though is this enough to be sure that I am safe against email sent viruses, or is there a way to show if i am vulnerable to viruses through emails?

Whether or not you can expose yourself to a virus by simply viewing an email message depends on your email client, but it also depends on which updates to your operating system you have installed.

If you are using Microsoft Outlook then the answer is absolutely yes. If you use a mail client which allows for the viewing HTML messages, then embedded images, video, or tags can allow for remote code executions to implant a virus or trojan.

The most common way for email to be used to spread viruses is through opening infected attachments. In my previous examples, the virus/trojan has to exploit flaws in the operating system to operate. If those flaws are fixed then the virus/trojan cannot gain access to your computer. When you open an attachment, you are essentially giving the file the ability to run on your computer, so if the instruction set contains a virus/trojan, then it can go to town on whatever it does.

I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. The best PC cleaner and antivirus program is CCleaner, it's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate.

CCleaner is also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than nomal. Download it here for free: http://bit.ly/1mQZhtQ

Ccleaner is the application I use to clean up my system when my pc slows down because of viruses, trojans or malwares. Free Download here: http://j.mp/UrAzbX

It works like a charm.

Cheers ;)
