Hi i would just like to start off by saying my computer is full of unnecessary malware etc etc... I have everything from the rogue anti virus stuff to keyloggers, a bazillion trojans, some things just labeled viruses etc. I want to get rid of them! I was told if my computer has been running all these years and no problems so far with passwords being stolen, information changed, stuff deleted,it running slow (which my computer isn't) i shouldn't worry at all...yeah right! I would like to know a safe way of getting rid of these viruses safely. Also what is a good anti-virus program that is free?

Half of the answers you have gotten are rogue (fake) antispyware programs which will just make matters worse. The other half cannot be run with Norton Antivirus installed.

To remove Norton, you will have to go to the Symantec Support site and download and run the specific Norton Removal Tool for your version. Then reboot and run the Tool a second time. Now you are ready to try something else.

Avast is good, but it does not have a firewall. Get Comodo Firewall.

http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/

(Ignore the Internet Security components when installing, but choose the Level Three Firewall.)

You might also want Super Antispyware as a backup scanner (a sort of second opinion).

That's it. Three easy steps to better on line security.

The problem with your Norton Antivirus is that it doesn't have a firewall. That's how you got infected, even from perfectly decent web sites. There are special risks at YouTube and Facebook, and when doing on line gaming or Peer-to-Peer (like uTorrent).

But the three products I have recommended are safe, really work, and are free. What more could you ask?

Avast anti-virus is good ( better than AVG)

http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Home-Edition/3000-2239_4-10019223.html?tag=mncol

Once installed you need to register at Avast.com to get the key which will last you a year after which you just re-register ( always free)

You should also download Malwarebytes ( free also no need to upgrade to paid version)

Question for you: Just why are you running your computer without any security? Are you just too lazy to get this for your self and protect your equipment? What's your problem? And further more,if you have all this stuff, then how do you know about it?
