I use fedora (FW: iptables), ubuntu 7.04 (Firestarter/squid) and Debian(Squid/iptables), and that doesnt happen to me, but I still have one question. Do you have a messenger open when it happens? because that could happen when some program need to check the Internet connection they made a ping to some public servers, or the messenger using yahoo protocol (similar to yahoo messenger) will ping to at least one yahoo server because they must know if they are online, and more often they must get all the data about your contacts (online/offline/... so on) list, by the way not every ping must be bad, but it could if more than a ping then subsecuent data or other protocol packets try to be sent. If you get another info please add it to let us know what it could be. And finally is it the ICPM packet an incomming or outgoing packet?
