Not sure what the site is or what the files are It sounds like a web hosting site that hosts files. It is possible they downloaded a program to copy all your cookies and saved passwords.

They could have installed a trojan virus that will log any key strokes and send them to them, they can then hack your accounts.

Some precautions would be to re-format the laptop, change any passwords, or cancel the cards.

Hope this helps and good luck

sorry to be so obvious,,,bottom line have u received the cash for the vehicle? if not report the the vehicle as stolen, which it is to the police and let them do the "legwork"

if you are just worried about "internet fraud"most if not all credit cards carry a guarantee against fraud,

any reputable card company,,,for example my recent experience,,i bought something on the net from america, which i purchased in dollars, rather than UK pounds sterling,,,my company considered this an out of character expense and i received a letter saying my card was stopped until i contacted them to verify that the purchase was mine and not someone who had obtained my card details in the usa,

you should install a good protection program such as Mcafee which stops hackers getting into your PC,

but sell to a dealer in future and you wont have any problems my bank card also only lets me withdraw £250 per day cash so that its possible they are genuine but dont take any more risks there are fraudsters everywhere

It is a scam. I get those emails all the time from someone who owns some type of company in Africa and they left me to inherit large amounts of money. I don't know anyone in Africa... LOL.... But yea it is a scam i get emails like that at least 3 times a week.

If you are scared they are going to get in to your computer and delete the files photocopy the web page he went on and the file he went in for if you have any further trouble.if you go to tools on your computer then go into internet options go on to the onre that says delete all temporary files and remove cookies and saved passwords it will bring a Little box up click the tiny square that says delete unwanted files this should protect your files good luck.

Looks like a scam to me, I'd clean up the laptop as others have suggested and go to the police as that amount of money is involved, even if you have received the money, which is unlikely if you got that load of stuff come up; then I'd certainly report it as very fish indeed.

Do not waste time finding out. Download and scan with malwarebytes from http://malwarebytes.org

First opportunity contact your bank and change all your cards, passwords and anything else that may be at risk.

Dear Worried.........

Two guys came to buy your car without enough money, then you let them in your house, then you let them use your computer??? As previously advised get in touch with your banks and credit cards NOW......p.s. did they buy it?
