I want to block a website that needs to deal with writing a system file, but I can't save it because it says I need to contact the administrator. Im already using an admin account but it still won't work. I tried right-clicking the `host` file but it has no `Run as admin` option.

WHAT TO DO ? :(

Can I ask for help please? I badly need to block a website here on our LAN at home. My family is about to rumble.

Enable the parental controls on that computers Internet Explorer is another way too.

Copy the host file to you desktop edit the file there. Save it. Then copy it back to the directory that you copied it from

I also like opendns and recommend it to others. Also make sure that each user in your family has their own user profile and enable the family setting and parental controls per user.

Even easier way is just to use OpenDNS:

It's very easy to set up, takes less than 6 minutes and it offers a wealth of options to monitor and blacklist any unwanted domains or sites.

There is no software involved -- you just need to change your router's (or computer's) DNS setting to point to the OpenDNS servers.
