The story is at first I had no antivirus software and my computer told me they detected a critical virus in my computer and that they recommend me to download my security shield but it cost like $50 for 6 months so then I decided to just download AVG antivirus and do a virus scan. When I used AVG to scan it didn't detect anything and My Security shield keeps telling me to buy their 6 month antivirus. What should I do to take out this virus?

OK, AVG is crappy-really it is. Unlinstall everything u have as far as security, and follow these steps instead:

Step #1. Restart, and before the computer logo comes on( dell, hp, or whatever ur computer is) PRESS F 8 A COUPLE OF TIMES-- a black screen with white lettering will appear. with ur u and down arrows, select SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING) the computer should look weird as it starts up in safe mode.

Step #2. Download Malware-bytes from: http://www.malwarebytes.org/ ( the free one)

Download it,install it, run it. Perform Quick Scan. Once scan is complete, click Show results-check all threats found and click Remove Threats.

Step# 3 Download AVAST from

http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10019223.html

On the lest side, click DOWNLOAD NOW. Install, run it-remove found threats.

Step# 4. Download CCleaner from:

http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

Install it, and run it. CCleaner is one of the best programs when it comes to freeing up space on your computer

You are done. Now restart your computer. Everything should be back to normal. If you want more detalies go here:

Do not download more then necessary. One of the biggest myths and mistakes made by people in general, is thinking that the more anti virus programs you have installed on your computer the better it is.THAT IS A MISTAKE AND A MYTH. The reason for that is because anti virus programs counteract and overwrite each other, thus errors in removing viruses. One ativirus an one anti malware, is more then enough.

Yes, malware-bytes, it is not only for malware/spyware, BUT ALSO for viruses.

I am a CERTIFIED IT TECH, with A+, Windows 7, and MCSE certifications.

There is no need to buy another 6 months of security shield. AVG is a reputed, free and a great anti-virus. If you are extra cautious, you can have two anti-virus installed at the same time, so that if one of them misses a virus by any chance, the other one can pick it up. The second recommendation would be Avast. It is free and works great. You can download that from Cnet.com

My security shield is a fake antivirus. You need to get rid of it.

Try using malwarebytes or spyware doctor if avg can not detect it.
