help, i have a hidden trojan on my computer called Trojan-Clicker.Agent!ct. how can i get rid of it?

Calm down, First off if you know the name of the virus do a system search for it and just delete it if possible. If you want antivirus go here www.free.avg.com download the version on the left. I use this and I haven't had virus for very long time, the greatest part is, it's free.

you need to make sure you only have one antivirus program active on your PC (whether it's AVG, or Norton, or whatever). You can have more than one antispyware, but only one Antivirus. You should only have one firewall running as well. You should be behind a router. You need to go to update.microsoft.com and download all the latest updates (if you can). Keep running windows update (keep going back to that page over and over and installing every critical update it has until it tells you there are no more updates for you to install.



You also need to download the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool, and then after it's downloaded, you run it. (to run it, click Start, Run, and then in the run box type "MRT" (without the quotes) and hit Enter), and it will run and remove bad stuff it finds.



Also free from Microsoft is Windows Defender (to to microsoft.com, click on "download center" and then on that download center page, search for "windows defender" (this is also the simplest way to find the download page for the MMMSRT (Malicious Software Removal Tool).



You need to go and download malwarebytes (from malwarebytes.org) . . it's free, download it, install it, click to update it and scan your PC with it.





If you have trouble scanning with any of these, try to scan with them in safe mode (after you've installed and updated them, that is).



to get to Safe Mode, reboot your computer and, at the black bootup screen, start tapping the F8 key until you get a menu, one of the choices will be "Safe Mode" . . use the up/down arrow keys to get to that choice and then hit Enter.



Once in Safe Mode, run and scan with (one at a time), your updated antivirus (whether AVG or Norton or whatever), and the other tools I told you about (one at a time). Windows Defender, Malwarebytes, etc.

You should be able to run both Windows Defender and the MMSRT in regular Windows mode, tho'. .



If you can't get to these sites to download these products [because the virus is blocking you from going to them], then download them on someone else's PC, save them to a thumb drive or a CD, and then use that thumb drive or CD to install them on your infected PC.



If all else fails, go to http://www.techguy.org and post your problem there in their "security and malware removal" forum.
