Hi There,

You can run antivirus and antispyware programs, but the sad fact is if you have found one virus on your computer, you probably have several. Cleaning the computer now requires you to follow these steps, because modern viruses and spyware entrench themselves in files that your computer needs in order to run:

1. Virus-check your data files (not application files-- you have installer CDs for those).

2. Back up the data files, getting them off your hard drive.

3. Get your original operating system CDs that came with your computer.

4. Boot your computer from the operating system CD.

5. Select the option that erases your hard drive and then reinstall your system software.

6. Turn on your software firewall that came with your operating system.

7. Reconnect to the internet, and download *all* Windows updates, no matter how long it takes.

8. Reinstall your application software, and update the applications as much as you can.

9. Reinstall your data files.

10. Create a limited user account on your system that does *not* have administrator access, and web surf only from this account.

Yes, this is a pain in the butt. No, there is no other way. No, antivirus and antispyware programs cannot fix this problem on its own.

So, what do you do in the future?

1. Never click on links you find in an e-mail.

2. Never open an e-mail attachment, ever.

3. Only download files from a reputable website that you know is on the up-and-up.

4. Never use bit-torrent and other file-sharing programs.

5. Never use an unsolicited drive-checking site.

6. Turn off all java and java scripting by default, and only enable java and java scripting for sites that you know you can trust.

7. Never read an unsolicited e-mail, and delete spam immediately. It is possible to be hacked by reading an e-mail alone.

Please adhere to the 'dont's' I provided above, because you will have to repeat the cleaning steps that I listed first *every time you get infected.* Anti-spyware and anti-virus programs are good to have, but they are a second line of defense. The best way to protect your system is you, and changing your behavior.

Step 1

As soon as you suspect that your computer has a virus, remove your computer from any networks it might be on, as well as from the Internet, so that you don't inadvertently spread the bug to others. Unplug your network cable if you have to.

Step 2

If you have virus-scanning (anti-virus) software installed, run it.

Step 3

If you don't have anti-virus software, you'll need to obtain some. If you can't get it from a network administrator or download it from an uninfected computer, you can mail-order it from a retailer.

Step 4

Start your computer (still not connected to a network) and follow the instructions that came with the anti-virus software.

Step 5

Keep running the virus-scanning software until your computer comes up clean.

Step 6

Reconnect your computer to the Internet and check with the anti-virus software's publisher to make sure you have the latest updates. If not, download them now.

Step 7

After updating the anti-virus software, run it again until your computer comes up clean.

use a anti virus like microsoft securty essintials google it download it install it then update it then do a full scan. you cant use more then to antivirus on one computer . then if you want use a online scan search eset nod32 online scan in google. if the virus is high risk i would say ask a friend who nows what there doing or go to a pc shop and ask for the pc to be reformated and reinstall windows .then when you at home download microsoft security essitials. reformating erases all data even viruses so back up videos pics inportant documents. dont both backing up programs hope this helps

ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE IS NOT MADE TO REMOVE VIRUS'S!!!! It is made to prevent virus's from getting on your computer. It may remove some simple virus's but most it wont be able to remove including the one you have!

That is for the next 10 people that are probably going to tell you to download antivirus xxxx because it isnt going to fix your problem

Its not exactly easy for a novice to remove virus's

What I would suggest is first you need to get your computer to safe mode with networking

reboot your computer and push the f8 key over and over when the computer is starting up. If you see the windows logo you went to far, reboot and try again

Download these programs once you get into safe mode with networking

Hijackthis http://dw.com.com/redir?edId=3&siteId=4&…

Combofix http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download…

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware http://dw.com.com/redir?edId=3&siteId=4&…

Spybot Search and Destroy http://dw.com.com/redir?edId=3&siteId=4&…

Once all of them are downloaded run each one starting with Hijackthis, that will remove all your startup items that run when the computer first loads (load points)

Then run combofix, This is a great tool and will fix many problems on its own. The other 2 are just for backup

Then run Malware Antibytes you can just run a quick scan mode it will only take 5-10 min

Run spyboy if you want, it may find something. I like to run this but it will take probably at least 45 min if not longer.

After you run the programs reboot your computer.

boot computer and tap the F8 key repeatedly then choose safemode with networking open browser and go to safety.live.com that is microsoft's online virus scanner run protection scan then run the cleanup scanner it's free...or use another computer go to Avira.com and download a rescue disk it's free then set your bios to boot from cd/dvd and run the antivirus before anything can boot...Pandasecurity.com offers one it's free

Install AVG antivirus software and remove virus. If the issue still persists, perform System Recovery.

I recommend you to take the backup as recovery will erase the complete data.

I'll give you a rank list of anti-virus most used by people below:

http://www.softcns.com/search/anti-virus_1.html

I personally recommend AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 9.0 and CCleaner for free use, and BitDefender anti-virus for discount. By the way, the address above is a most most discount place I found.

I hope it will help you a lot. ^_^
