Hi. I set up a wirless router on my desktop then added a laptop to the homegroup. But now someone is stealing internet. I no longer have the desktop so I am unsure sure how to change the settings/password so that no one can use up my internet quota. How do I do this? The router is DLINK DIR-600. thanks

All routers IP address is http://192.168.1.1

go there in your web browser and click on wireless security

You must be wired directly to the router for this

Go to Start-Run-Type in CMD

Type IPCONFIG

Look at the third set of numbers (Default Gateway)

It should look something like 192.168.1.1

Open up your Internet Browser

Type in the Gateway address in the Address Line

This should take you to the Main Page of your router

From there you need to follow along and read every page carefully. All routers are not the same but you should find an area that says Wireless and then Security. If you used WEP encryption, for example, you will find that information there. This should cover you with most routers.

In order to get your router back to the original settings, you must push in the reset button (usually on the back of the router) for somewhere between 10 and 30 seconds depending on the router. You may need a pin or something small to push in the button, because it can be recessed. Once you have reset the router, the username and password will be changed to the defaults, admin and password, respectively.

One thing you must remember is that resetting the router will change all of the router settings back to the factory settings. This means you will lose all of the changes you made since you got the router. Make sure to write down any things you’ve changed, so you can change them back after the reset. Also, I recommend updating to the latest firmware after the reset.
