Hi there,

Both the files you mention have the potential of being either GOOD or BAD. They may be legitimate files, but then malware writers also use these same filenames so as to appear genuine and avoid detection / deletion.

Example - here's some information on a BAD "mfc70.dll":

http://spywarefiles.prevx.com/RRHAHF8927/mfc70%252Edll.html

The only realy way to distinguish whether the file on your PC is good or bad is by running a security program that recognises it.

Seeing as Prevx1 has information on this file, I would recommend you download the Free Trial of Prevx1. This will scan your PC and remove this (if it IS in fact BAD) as well as any other infections free of charge.

Well these are not viruses..Relax..!!

These are MFC files required for proper working of some applications (those written in vc++).

Master Boot Record(MBR) is the first logical sector on a disk, this is (usually) where the BIOS looks to load a small program that will boot the computer.

The boot record on your hard drives are at the beginning of each logical partition and contain info about that drive. If the boot record is on the active or bootable partition then it also contains start up procedure that boots the Operating System. This is different from the Master Boot Record

No, they are not viruses. They are Microsoft Foundation Classes Library files. If you remove them, your computer will not function A wide variety of programs require those two files to run, if they are missing, they will not run, assuming you can get Windows to load at all..
