Are there any viruses that cause your computer to be slow? I have Eastlink Internet Security Services and Windows Defender. I've scanned my computer with both programs but there aren't any viruses. It's just that my computers gotten really slow. I think I downloaded a virus when I downloaded a mod for Call of Duty 4. =S

Maybe your computer just has poor specs and allot of services running.

Anything thats running on your computer will make it slower.

There's so much spyware/adware/crapware out there that makes it pretty difficult to run a windows pc without some of this crap running.

I'd recommend getting a proper anti-virus though. I use Avira on my windows computer which is free and seems to do the job nicely without hogging all the resources.

To keep things running fast I suggest next time you are looking for a program to do something, try to find an "open source" program to do it. Also don't install crap like toolbars for your browser, and use firefox. Never use microsoft internet explorer.

If you have windows you might be going through space problems, same as viruses problems that make your computer over heat ,which makes it slow...

I use to have the same problem and I downloaded Tuneup Utilities 2009, is a program that specializes in making your computer faster.

search in google Tuneup Utilities 2009 and you can get a free version.

There are viruses, adware and spyware. For adware try the free version of Adaware from www.lavasoft.com. For spyware try the free antispy that comes with the yahoo toolbar.

Next, how much memory do you have? If you have less than 500mb of RAM for WinXP or 2mb for Vista it is just not enough to run.
