Question:
Help please!! Wireshark Virus.. Cant remove.... Advice?
2010-08-18 10:38:35 UTC
Ok wireshark just landed its way on my laptop. I tried everything. I think I'm just screwed. I been using my computer in safe mode so I can access the net. I tried using the malwares software. Didn't work. I guess wireshark is shutting it down because every time I try to run it it closes so fast.
It has to be a way to get rid of this sh*t. I even tried removing it using a different comp. I used my usb to transfer malware and other programs that remove wireshark but that didn't work either. I'm afraid its no hope. I don't want to take it to a computer repair and be charged loads of money for something I can fix at home if I had a solution.
Can someone please please help me. I start school next week and I need my computer for homework.
Any advice and suggestions will help.

Try renaming mbam.exe to something else ending in .exe and see if that sneaks it past the malware.

Also, have you tried RUNNING malwarebytes in Safe Mode?

Good luck.

If you can get access to another computer download Dr Cure It ( http://www.freedrweb.com/cureit/?lng=en ) on a flash drive and run the Dr Cure It in the default mode (ERM...it blocks all other applications from running) while under safe mode. I've been able to save a few really messed up computers this way.

You could try using system recovery..

Press ''Ctrl'' + ''Alt'' + ''Delete'' at the same time to bring up Task Manager.

Select ''new task'' from the bottom right and type in MSCONFIG then press ''Ok''

This should bring up ''System Configuration Utility''

Select ''Normal Startup'' and then click ''Launch System Restore''

Click ''Restore my computer to an earlier time''

Chose a bold date from before she got the virus then proceed :-)

However, you will lose all files created after the restore date, so be careful.
