Using Hiren's mini XP to access a Windows 7 desktop.

Need to copy pictures before reformatting/reinstalling.

HOW do I even locate the pictures?

I cannot locate them under Users > Documents> Pictures, because I'm technically on a different OS (the Rescue Disc's mini XP OS).

Confused and please help. I'm trying to save my niece's artwork. Thank you!!

Go to My Computer, and look for the Disk Drive that seems to be the one that contains all the files. It'll probably be a Local Disk, probably letter 'D'or 'E' (and is probably not 'C'), and will probably be the largest capacity disk in the list.

Double-click on it, and go to the " Users > NAME > Documents> Pictures" that's on that drive.

Once you've found them, simply copy them to a USB drive.

Re "Addt'l Details" - Sounds like you're looking in the wrong place. (That file is for Windows System Restore, and should be in the "System Volume Information" folder.) You're looking for the largest capacity drive, not the one with the most free space. The drive you're looking for should be full of stuff - since it's stuff that you're looking for. Try a different drive.

If that's the only file on the drive, and there are no other drives... You're kinda stuck. Call your friendly local computer repair guy.

Hello Venus,

C:/users//pictures

C drive is normally where the operating system is

D drive is used for system restore/back-ups(Ok for most desktops, but for a laptop, use an external drive for back-ups

E drive is normally the CD/DVD rom

Any other drives are card readers.

Any HD's added will result in a Drive F then G n so forth

Just so you know, Hiren Boot cd is bootlegged software, not exactly legal
