Microsoft updates, anyone actually use them?
Personally as an experienced computer user (over 10 years) I do not use Microsoft updates, I use the best Firewall, the best Anti-virus and Spyware protection and I have yet after over 2 years of using this current PC to get a single virus through not using Microsoft's update program.
My PC is still running as though it hasn't hardly been used due to not constantly having Microsoft use disk space and memory up, of course I have had spyware but no one is immune to that. I use my PC for banking and shopping and have also yet to have any suspicious activity connected to not having update on.
What Microsoft don't tell you is that their program is used to control your PC and to a small extent protect it if your not very computer literate.
So the general rule of thumb is....use the best Firewall e.g Online Armor, Anti-virus e.g Avira AntiVir and spyware you can find (even the free ones are very strong) and just be wary of suspicious websites and you will be fine without the updates and enjoy a smooth computer for a long time . :)

Every once in a while, you run across peeps with really bad ideas. And sometimes another naive peep will agree with him. That would be the case here.

that's a similar ingredient, MIcrosoft is in simple terms renaming and changing each thing continually. Your pc did not get tousled, so do not difficulty! that's stable to maintain them up as much as now too!

Double R, i really dont think they was trying to fill your head full of crap or tell u the best software, they was giving u advice and some suggestions - take it or leave it as they say and move on, although the software they brought up is still excellent and i too DO NOT use microsoft update as i also make the most of my OWN excellent security software with NO viruses also after a long time of not using their update service not that microsoft are not up to standard, and yes they do control your pc to a certain extent ONLY if u choose and continue to use their software like updates or their own spyware program etc, i mean why do u think mac don't get viruses? no not cuz they arnt with microsoft or their not 'vunerable' but because they have tough security mechanisms which microsoft does not and WONT have. although microsoft CAN do this they are the richest company in the world but they won't as it is a gimmick to connect your computer to THEIRS, so there u have it.

MIcrosoft's program only controls your pc if you let it. you say you use the best, evidently you do not know what the best is. otherwise you would not be here trying to fill people's head full of c***

Yeah everybody should use them because it will be safer for your system, that is why so many people get easily infected because they can be seen and target so easily on the net.

It's naive people who believe every single or most things that a big corporation and/or a government says, just shows that 2 others including me are doing fine without Microsoft telling us what to do to prevent...well not much from where I'm sitting, no viruses here!, internet shopping fine, banking, shall I go on and on? =)
