Question:
Are there any other good, free firewalls other than Comodo and ZoneAlarm?

I know, I'm being picky and cheap. lol I don't have a job right now. I was using Comodo. It was a piece of junk. It bugged me about every single thing and made my computer run very slow (which is otherwise very fast). Also, Comodo converter their "free" standalone firewall into an all-in-one antivirus/firewall/whatever.

So I switched to ZoneAlarm. I've been using ZoneAlarm for many months now. However...it looks like they may have done the same thing. I keep getting these "update" popups. I click to update it, it downloads another (supposedly newer, updated) install file for Zone Alarm. It reinstalls the whole freaking program with this 'new' ZoneAlarm version. Then I can restart and it does the same thing every single day. It never "updates" itself no matter how much it downloads a new 'update.'

It's not a virus - it is in fact the legit ZoneAlarm program. It's messing up, though. In the bug message about the update, it mentions purchasing another version that has the all-in-one thing. Has ZoneAlarm become crooked too, and they're putting bug tactics in their programs to get people to buy the all-in-one version?

Any good firewall will require you to make some decisions but Comodo can be a pain in the butt to use. It's also recently been dropped from Softpedia as they've determined it to be adware.

ZoneAlarm free isn't that good. See these reputable firewall (not AV) tests:

I'd go along with OnlineArmor. Good protection, one of the most user-friendly and no hassles to download anything you don't want, or to buy it.
