comp and phone has been HACKED. What to do?!!?

Question

So my cousin's computer and phone have been completely HACKED. She can't use the internet.. because everytime she does it just leads her to some ridiculous website. it's impossible for her to read her email because apparently someone reads it before she does. She's also been getting strange texts.. she said that the hacker knows the passwords to everything - her myspace, email and even knows her house address and social security..crazy, i know!

i've been looking online trying to see if i can get any info for her to tracking down a hacker.. but no such luck yet. So is there any way she can track this hacker or get rid of it?

*She's had a virus on her comp for a while and it keeps coming back. She wants to shut down her phone but she's afraid the hacker will find out the new number and it will start all over again!

SO any help u can give me would be highly appreciated.. thanks!

if its that serious, she needs to stop using her computer and phone. take them both to professionals, and, if they have her social security number she should go to the police. Oh...and notify her bank, and credit card companies etc.

First of all, unplug your computer from the internet. Once it's offline no one but you can touch it. Use a different computer to download a good firewall, anti-spyware program (Try Windows Defender) and good antivirus. Load them up, do a complete scan on your computer, and only reconnect when you're sure your computer is clean. Change all your passwords for everything to something completely different and change your number. Don't leave any record of your new number online. That way the hacker won't find it. If your firewall is any good, it will show you the ip address of the hacker so you can give that to the police to track down.



Oh and calm down! all is not lost.

Report the problem to your ISP first if they can do something about it.



Of course you can check the connections by entering the menu of your router, check your firewall and close all the ports (after changing the router's password). Hence you can be safe from outbound attack.



Use different accounts in mail clients etc after the problem has been solved.



But don't panic if you are not 100% sure. First try some scanning with malware removers in case the problem is caused by malicious software. The hacker thing is a little bit far fetched, so organize your "diffence" gradually from the scanning to more severe measures (informing the ISP and so on).

-Format the PC

-Use a different computer to change the password of everything.

-Keep your PC updated with patches, antivirus, anti-spyware etc.
