I want to set up a wireless internet network in my home. There are 3 laptops used by different people and I'd like if we can all use the same network, hopwever, i use my internet to pay bills, do all my banking online, and sometimes make credit card payments. Is there a very safe firewall or something that can be installed to ensure that it will be just as secure as a wired connection, even from the other people in the house?

Most newer wireless routers come with NAT or other Firewalls. These are firmware, so they are harder to crack.

You have to bring up the Wireless Routers' set page and encrypt the Wireless to secure it from those outside the Network. Most have two levels of encryptions, and a way to exclude any connections but the PC/laptops you specify with the corresponding IP addresses.

You will need to set the Wireless Network Name called SSID, a Password and a WEP (a 64 bit 10 Hex Digit or 128 bit 26 Hex Digit) key. The WEP needs to be a 10 digit password or a 26 for greater security.

There are other Security measure, but you have to read the documentation to your Wireless to learn all of them.

Unless the people in your house are hackers with advanced packet-sniffing software, wireless shouldn't be any less secure than a wired connection. To make sure that others in the area besides the people in your house can't use the connection, turn on mac address filtering in your router; only put in the addresses of the the laptops so that no-one else can use the connection.

You don't say what kind of wireless router you have, but they all have a few things in common. First, encrypt it, so that someone has to know the encryption code to acess it. Second, put it in stealth mode, so a computer looking for a network can't even see it. You have to type the name of your network into the computer and then it can find it. Once found, you still have to enter the encryption code to access it. That's about as safe as secure as you can make it.
