I got spyware on my computer somehow. I installed google pack and after running that it instructed to restart the computer, so I did. After the computer restarted, I have this "Virus Protector" running which wont allow me do to do anything.

There are similar posts addressing this concern but all posts are ignoring the fact that "Virus Protector" is taking up the entire screen and wont us do anything. When I say this I mean I cant shut this program down, I cant go to the start menu. Same thing happens in safe mode.

I googled this and found out "Virus Protector" is a scam for money. But I kindly request you all before you give your solutions please try to address the issue at hand and guide how to shut that thing down to get the basic functionality back of my computer.

Much appreciated.

It is possible that the infection you are trying to remove will not allow you to download files on the infected computer. If this is the case, then you will need to download the files suggested to another computer and then transfer them to the infected computer via a CD/DVD, external drive, or USB flash drive

If the infection is blocking the internet connection try

SUPERAntiSpyware Portable Scanner. All you need is a blank CD or a USB device. A CD+R is best as it is read only and can not be infected. Download to a clean computer and copy to the CD and place in infected computer. It is random named to prevent the malware from keeping it from running/executing.See--->http://www.superantispyware.com/portablescanner.html

That should give you enough control over the infected computer to use the next guide to finish removing Virus Protector. See

Boot your computer into safe mode with networking, go get firefox install it and google for the firefox no script plug in. You should use that as your browser from now on. If you can't use your pc then reboot into safe mode with command prompt, wait for windows to load and type in explorer.exe and press enter, you should be able to use your pc now. Ignore any popups that want you to scan your computer or do anything unusual, move the popup window out of the way if needed, in the future never click on ok, cancel, install, the X at the top right to close the popup, or whatever unless you know what the software is going to do, when you do the virus is going to install itself on the next reboot. If anything bring up the task manager and end all tasks and start your scans Ok, go to this site: http://www.myantispyware.com/2010/02/20/how-to-remove-virus-protector-uninstall-instructions/.and read the instructions. I prefer ComboFix you can get it here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix. There is a direct link to download on the page, choose from BleepingComputer.com or ForoSpyware.com they both open a run/save window, select save and put it on your desktop or just follow the instructions, also make sure you read and follow the instructions on how to use ComboFix carefully!!! then download Spybot, you can get it here: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html. save that to your desktop. Run Spybot after you have used ComboFix, following all instructions carefully of course. If you need to, use a friends pc and download the recommended software and instructions and burn to a disk or save to usb drive or something and access them without the need for networking, then you should run ComboFix again but update it first. Do some creative googling if these suggestions are not working, like, how to remove or fix "whatever the problem is". If you want decent security try Avast free or NOD32(recommended by an IT friend of mine) they work fairly well and are free. I replaced AVG free with NOD32, also get superantispyware and keep it running with your antivirus software, and always make sure you keep everything updated! Good luck with getting this situation sorted out.

Virus Protector is a fake anti-spyware program that creates several random files, detects those files as infections and prompts the user to download the anti spyware application to remove all found malware. In fact, when the user tries to download the fake anti-spyware application it will infect the system with malicious codes. It constantly displays security warnings, such as "Process blocked", "Internet Attack Detected" or "Spyware alert" and displays fake scan results.

This infection can be removed by Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware which is a very effective anti malware application.

Launch the Windows in safe mode, download and install Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, perform an update, then scan the system for infection. Check all found infections and remove them from the computer.

Your situation is quite complicated. Try to reboot your PC in Safe Mode with Networking. If you can't then reboot it normally again.. Press Winkey+R. Type in: explorer.exe then hit enter. This should bring Windows explorer back. Another option is rather simple but you have to be quicker than the virus. You have to click Crtl+Alt+Del as soon as Windows starts, just before Virus Protector is loaded and "kill" its process. Look for randomly named process in the list. I hope this will help you. More info about this virus and how to remove it here: http://deletemalware.blogspot.com/2010/02/how-to-remove-virus-protector-free.html

Good luck!

That sounds awful.. You should really speak to someone about your violent family. You are 16 now, can't you move out? I am not sure how it works over where you are but here in the UK you can move out when your 16. If you can't do that isn't there any relatives you could go and live with? Good luck x

Don’t trust this rogue application; instead, you should remove this dubious application as soon as it has been detected within a computer system.
