I always find my little brother letting his friends connect to the computer via remote connection. I told him to stop but kids what can you do right :P So I don't want any security problems or make the computer vulnerable in any way. So is there any way for me to completely disable remote connections. I want it to be super hard for him to turn it back on.

ps. no one uses remote access just my brother so he can play around and get more viruses on the computer lol

Hi Nikeea,

You can turn off Remote desktop by doing the following;

1) Right click my computer

2) Select the remote tab

3) Untick both checkboxes

In order to prevent him from doing this, make sure your firewall is turned on and it should block any remote desktop requests.

Good luck!

Hi,

Remote connection is a big security hazard. To turn it off:-

Go to "Control Panel" and select "System"

Or.

Simply Right Click on the "Computer" icon in your desktop and a dialog box will open. From that window select "Remote Settings" from the top left corner. Now from the available options choose the option you want and hit "ok". You're Done.

If you find any problem,

By the sounds of things your port forwarding is setup to forward to the router (if that is what's on 192.168.1.1). It's a little bit unclear from what you've written. You actually need to port forward 3389 to the internal IP address of your machine at home, (which you can find out by doing ipconfig on the command line). Then once you open RDP client on your friends machine you just need to put your external IP address in only. This will connect to your router on 3389, but because the port forwarding rule is in place that connection gets forwarded to the machine your specified in your rule. Hope that works.
