pretty sure this is ok, but wanted informed opinions... i dunno about this stuff.
so, the trojan hit me last night, (went through all sorts of stuff, after much panic and research, used MALWAREBYTES' ANTI-MALWARE - which was also recommended by my dad's IT guy a little while ago today, he used it successfully on the infected computers at the office - and seem to be ok... http://www.malwarebytes.org/index.php downloaded free version 1.29) and, now, since the first time i had to restart the computer - after the infection caused me to - there has been another user on the log in page before accessing the desktop.
in the user accounts in the control panel this other user (not sure if i should post the name) is called a name that starts with a letter and then 10 numbers, they are listed as a computer administrator and it is password protected - a password i don't have. it has part of a chess board for it's picture. think i remember seeing this user when i first got the computer from my father, but after last night i just want to be sure it's ok.
i can't figure out how to tell when a user was added to see if it appeared last night.
did 'start', run, typed in 'control userpasswords2' and in the local users and groups part there are 5 names:
administrator - built-in account etc...
guest - built-in account etc... which has a red 'x' on it
help assistant - account for providing remote assistance, also with a red 'x'
the one that starts with a letter and 10 numbers - the full name is the same, and no description
name - full name is mine, no description
support_etc... - vendor's account for help and support etc... also with red 'x'
so, does this all seem ok?
if so, did i somehow hide this user so that i didn't see it since first getting this computer? how do i do that again?
Thanks for any info and help!
