a was recently attacked (computer wise) and luckily they left an IP behind.

2 days later my credit card details had been used to buy mulitple items on various sites...leaving me £4000 in debt.

now im a reasonable man. but this really takes the buscuit. i know i can find his address somehow via an IP without phoning up the ISP but i dont know how.

the police wont help because there is no proof it was whoever the IP belonged to. but its funny how i was hacked and then 2 days later someone runs up a bill on my card.

anyone help? please?

If you send me the IP address I will trace the IP to their Internet Service Provider. And then you can file a criminal complaint and the police can go to a judge to obtain a warrant to serve on the ISP, to hand over the tapes belonging to the person with their unique IP.

I have the software and technology in my computers. Will return the data back to you. Not possible to obtain the address of the unique IP, because that is private and requires a court issued warrant to obtain.

What you should do is visit the ARIN database website:

http://ws.arin.net/whois

and type the I.P. address into the search window.

It will trace and report to you the details of the ISP that the IP address comes through. If it comes from outside US, then it will refer you to another database handling IP records in other countries, such as APNIC.

RIPE handles the internet registries for the UK, but it's best to start your search with ARIN.

This won't give you the thief's address, no way to get that without asking the ISP, but it will tell you which ISP he/she is using.

Best of luck.

I wouldn,t be to worried as your bank will pick up the tab if you report it as fraud, it will be obvious its not you as they will check delivery addresses and so on.

what goes around comes around the d*ckheads will probably get run down crossing the road with all their ill gotten gains

and your right the old bill are next to useless
