If its XP (never tried this on vista) and you still have the default Administrator account you can log into it, from the user select screen press ctrl+alt+del twice then you can type in "Administrator" with a blank password (this is what its set to by default). Hopefully you'll have this administrator account still there.

If not you can do a windows reinstall without formatting and all your data should remain, but then your windows might be sort of gimped so back stuff up then do a full re-image. Good Luck!
