The problem with a lot of protection software is, that it resides on your computer. So if your sister simply removes the external drive and plugs it into a different computer, it can be read.

Other software encrypts the entire drive (better) but needs a component residing on your computer to de-crypt the contents. This means YOU cannot take it with you and get it to work on a different machine.

The software discussed in the above article resides on the external drive itself so no matter which computer you plug it into, it is protected - but accessible if you know the password.

Truecrypt is okay but your best deal on using it is encrypting your entire hard drive, this can protect you from situations of your laptop getting stolen, kon-boot, etc.

But yeah you will need something higher then sp1, considering it has some boot issues that but its still compatible.

Also you can read a little article here; http://www.askdavetaylor.com/how_to_encrypt_encode_password_protect_files_windows_winxp.html

But if you want your password protected just do what I said above, or change your password and possibly add a bios password.

Double click on at the dossier Your zip software will open. Choose extract It will ask for the password Type within the password If you would not have the password, uncover anything else to do. If you do have the password the dossier will probably be extracted.
