I just installed Limewire on my mothers laptop and it wouldnt connect to a network, i hadnt used it in an age and then remembered its dangerous for viruses. Im worried a virus has gotten into it. So ive uninstalled it after doing a virus and spyware scan. Nothing came up.

The only way it would get a virus, is if a file was named a music file or something like that, and you downloaded it, and then ran it, music and video is quite safe, but the programs aren't

Aren't you being a little paranoid here? Limewire by itself has no virus, it's just a website that offers a service. If you don't use that service, you aren't going to get anything from that service, good or bad. Limewire is NOT dangerous for viruses, any more than Youtube, or friendster is. You can get a virus from almost anything, including your best friend's email. I've had Limewire on my computer for 3-4 years, and I've never had a virus. Of course, I don't download music any more, and I've never downloaded illegal software, programs or movies.

ok first of all limewire is trash. Im sorry but it is, it uploads whatever is in you shared folder, and to answer the question not it cannnot give you a virus but many of the things oin the netowrk are viruses, i would stay away or at least scan all the files you download

Limewire itself (the program) CAN'T give you viruses. However, the person that you are getting the file from is able to attach a virus.

Simple virus programs such as AGV or Norton will help you.

the program doesn't give you viruses itself, but if you download stuff it can. Try to stay away from things like WATCH THIS or DOWNLOAD THIS. Also use the result with the most sources. I also got a virus before, but that only happened when i tried to download a program

if u do not search and download any file, there is no chance to come up a virus, no problem, but the thing is if the installation file of your limeware alrady contains a virus from begining on it then it can affect ur computer, but as you did not search or download any file there is no chance to get virus from internt

HOPEFULLY,you have an anti-virus--anti-rootkit blocker as well as at least 2 anti-spyware removers installed.

run those. if you haven't proper protect installed, before you go offline, download them from here

http://browseraddons.friendpages.com

i'd also HIGHLY reccomend downloading Firefox web browser and it's attending security extensions.

once you are cleaned up,return to system restore and create a new, clean restore point to work from in the future.
