So far you are getting a lot of bullshyt handed to you here. AVG will not protect you from a rogue. AVG will not protect you against Trojan /Malware attack. It will allow their download and it will not remove them. AVAST isn't very good with Trojans either. I just tested Avast 5 and found that it wasn't good with Trojans neither was it affective against the Koob face virus. There are thousands of variants of it.

If you want real protection that really works then get Kaspersky internet security. If your going to pay get the best to start with. If you don't want to pay, Pick anything but AVG. Their all basically the same. Firewalls are a different story. If you want a free firewall the strongest free is Comodo firewall. Just make sure you also get a sandbox program. Never use a free AV or Firewall with out a sandbox program. When something slips past your free security, And it will, You will be glad you had a sandbox program.

Install firewall as a stand alone.

Be very careful of anyone who will tell you they traded Kaspersky for AVG. That's like trading a new Cadillac Esscalade for a bicycle.

The best way is to download Ccleaner here http://bitly.com/UrALrK

Or you can go on Windows operating system locate the command prompt and go there to do the following:

Create a Recovery file of system and date it today.

Then begin by;

delete the 'Temp' folders..they have hidden subfolders so you need to set the attributes in order to bypass this. For each subfolder delete all cookies and rubbish left behnd after install-uninstalled programs. Do a 'dir' command to check your progress. Make sure the 'Temp' file is empty.

goto c:\windows\prefetch and delete everything in there..no exceptions

goto c:\windows folder and delete all the '$' files that have been installed by updates. They can all be succesfully deleted and just take up disk space.

Locate the Internet Temporary Files..Check to see how high the saving level is..some have it set at 30 days..but that stores faaaar tooo much data..though it slows down the system overal. Keep this to a minimum..suggest 2 or 5 at most.

Delete all 'cookies' all those you don't need.

Locate the windows directory and go through the folders you know and those you don't need. Check this once a week at least. Some programs will install under XP as NT and older systems where there is no check of systems weight.

Check to see that system files have not changed since last booting. Things like .ini files or .bat are important items.

Check for 'Hidden Directories' all over the disk...do this at the command prompt:

dir *.* /ah wil show these hidden directories

Check the 'dir' command for all parameters

Greetings. My name's Sanjay Patel, and I currently hold an honorary Master's degree in the field of Computer Science. I am aware of, and have personal knowledge related to your question. There are computer maintenance businesses which are probably in your area, however they come at the cost of hiring a professional to enter your home. There may also be some local destinations where you can drop off your computer and wait to have a technician look at it. These options can often be costly, and pretty inconvenient. The answer to this question can probably be found doing a little extra research on Google.

A well-running computer can be a hard thing to maintain. From my experience, there is but only One software which is reputable- and consistently reliable for healing sick, slow computers. Reimageā„¢ is a world-renown, easy to use software designed by Forensic scientists and made for the average person. This thing will fix literally just about ANY problem you could possibly be having with your PC. Reimage was recommended to me by a Professor during my 2nd year of Graduate school.

The proposal that macs are not able to get viruses or get hacked into is idiotic. Yes, macs can such a lot definitly get viruses and hacked into- however such a lot hackers do not spend time growing viruses for mac's in view that such a lot persons use Windows. -- If you're as a rule on on-line banking than I could incredibly propose you do it over a SSL connection (such a lot banking web sites have this). If you are utilising wi-fi be definite your encryption is on, and you've got a well cast password to it. Downloading an antivirus could be a intelligent transfer as good even though the two acknowledged above could be much more likely of a safeguard hazard.

I am a professional developer with Microsoft, and have about 10 years of experience in the field of Computer Engineering. Most problems with PC's are the result of malicious software that infected a Computer. Examples of this are things such as malware, viruses, trojans, spyware, adware, root kits, and worms. In other cases, they are the result of stability issues due to crashes, freezes, or Hardware Issues. Some examples of hardware issues could be a dirty cooling fan causing the computer to overheat, or low memory due to lack of RAM, which could cause the PC to run slowly. You may think it could be a virus, or malware, or registry issues, but it could be something else entirely. As a computer layman, one may find it hard to really ascertain what exactly is causing the problems, without having a professional do an in depth analysis of your PC.

As professional computer repairs can be quite costly, I would recommend to you a Software that many of us in the tech department here at Microsoft use personally and professionally to diagnose and repair computer problems very quickly. It is a software called Reimage, from https://tr.im/ReimageRepair .. In my personal experience, and in the experience of many of my associates, this is probably the best software ever created for those experiencing computer troubles. This is likely to remedy just about ANY problem your computer could possibly be having, and have it running like new. Reimage has won several awards, and been featured in publications such as PC Mag.

On my Windows laptop I bought Malwarebytes for the real-time protection and it works awesome. I think it's the absolute best anti-spyware/anti-malware product. It even blocks rogues. The Anti-Spyware in AVG Free is also really good. It has blocked rogues too.

I had Kasperski for a while but when we took it into the computer shop and they said it wasn't very good so they put on AVG anti virus and it works the job and things pop up before you click on a spam or bad spam website etc.
