How to permanently remove folder shortcut virus?

My external hard drive recently got the virus where all folders are turned into shortcut and the original folder disappears. I managed to temporarily restore my folders but once I shut down my computer it happens again.
I've tried different methods of getting rid of the virus without success.
So far I've tried using autorun exterminators, cmd commands and numerous anti-viruses to try and get rid of the virus. They work but only until I turn off my computer. Is there any way to remove this virus once and for all? Thanks a million!!

Bomber is the biggest fool of all. He says he used malware bytes free edition as antivirus. Guess what? it has no real time protection.



A lot of people have this misunderstanding that free version of MB is antivirus. They don't seem to understand the concept of real-time protection it appears. Computer illiterates.

Theirs this wonderful program called "ANTI-virus software" you should get one... their really useful, theirs even free ones out there, I personally use Malwarebytes Free Edition and its been able to take down any virus I've throw at it. Just scan the External Hard drive and it will be cleaned.
