Okay, my computer all of a sudden came up with a program for Personal Antivirus and I don't know how to get rid of it. I've tried changing my security system, deleting it with cmd, etc. It's not working. Now, I've read that you're supposed to go and download something different to get rid of Personal Antivirus. I also know that it's a rogue (fake). I got that, and I have not bought it. Now, I CANNOT get to a website where I can download something and get rid of Personal Antivirus. I've tried malaware and it's not working either, any help?

Go to Control Panel and see if you can delete the program first, in Add and remove Programs, makes more sense than downloading another program to rid yourself of one. If you can see if it is in your PROGRAMS list in the start menu, check if there is an icon for the program and see if you right click that icon can you uninstall it.

As for spyware, malware, trojans, worms and other adware related stuff you should already have and be using Yahoo AntiSpy in your toolbar above. It is free and has a NO HIJACK guarantee which is more than I can say about the sites already out there offering to fix this issue.

Next you should just go out and buy your anti virus software, save the heartache of downloading a costly hijack potential program.

Norton I do not like, bad history me and Norton, McAfee on the other hand has kept my Pcs clean and free of bugs for years. I used AVG too and the time I used it the program hijacked my internet and wouldn't allow me to connect and I spent 2 weeks without the net. Don't waste time playing with downloading crap.

Disk cleanup and defrag regularly and the rest is cake!!

Edit: if it doesnt let you download stuff like this then you can try and do a system rollback to a time before you got this spyware/virus and then try removing it from there before it messes up your comp again. The restore ui should be under system32/restore like rstrui.exe (i dont remember run command for it)

You can try and get HijackThis (see below for link) and do a system scan and fix any entries having to do with this personal antivirus and then running w/e anti-virus/anti-spyware program you ran before. (You should prolly do this with windows booted in safe mode).

This might or might not fix your problem. Also, be careful not to "fix" items that are not related to the "personal antivirus".

Personal Antivirus is a rogue (fake) anti-malware application.

In order to remove the program it will require you download, install, and update the best antispyware.
