Everytime I try running any exe it doesn't work because the virus says it's infected. I can't even get into the registry or the command prompt. I tried downloading an anti virus program but alas I cannot run thedamned install.exe. So is my hard drive completely screwed or is there someway to trick this virus

Here is what you need to do:

(1) Download "TDSSKiller.exe" run a scan with it. This will kill the process of the culprit. http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/solutions?qid=208280684 You'll need to do this in "Safe Mode" since the virus will not allow you to run .exe files: Power on your computer ► tap the "F8" key when you hear the beep sound (you'll also see the manufacturer's logo at the same time) ► select "Safe Mode" and hit they "Enter" key.

(2) If that doesn't work, try online-scanning utilities, which only requires you to install an add-on to your browser:

▪ As "hibeam61" above suggested, try the "Windows Live OneCare safety scanner": http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/sandbox/install.htm?scanner=default&goback=http%3A%2F%2Fonecare.live.com%2Fsite%2Fen-us%2Fdefault.htm

▪ As "Lambo dinae" below suggested, try "Panda ActiveScan 2.0": http://www.pandasecurity.com/activescan/index/?track=100663

(3) If Windows Live OneCare safety scanner, Panda ActiveScan 2.0 or TDSSKiller.exe did not work, as "Milanao" above suggsted, try the "Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10": http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/rescuedisk You'll need to burn this on a CD or make a bootable USB ► boot from this CD, which will scan your HDD and disinfect your computer. This is a great tool, because your operating system needs to boot for the virus to work.

(4) Download and install "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (Free Edition)" (MBAM): http://www.malwarebytes.org/ Run a full-system scan with it. I suggest running the scan in "Safe Mode".

(5) If you don't have a virus program on your computer, download "Microsoft Security Essentials" (MSE), which is a good, free software. http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ Note that MBAM does not have real-time protection, i.e., it will not protect your computer in the background; you can only run system scan with it to get rid of viruses. So, use it to run a second scan after running your regular scans with MSE.

(6) It's not necessary, but you should also run a scan with the following software just to make sure nothing is left on your system:

▪ "SurfRight Hitman Pro": http://www.surfright.nl/en/products/

▪ "SUPERAntiSpyware" free edition or portable edition: http://www.superantispyware.com/portablescanner.html?tag=SAS_HOMEPAGE

▪ "Dr.Web CureIt": http://www.freedrweb.com/cureit/?lng=en

If you were unsuccessful in removing the virus, your last resort is to reformat your system. If you have a "recovery partition" ("recovery discs" that came with your computer, if you have an old computer), it would make this job easier. If you don't have any of this, then you'll need to purchase the Windows Instillation Disc and perform a "clean install".

Try booting your computer into safe mode. To do this press F8 while your computer first starts booting until a screen appears that gives you this option. After you boot in safe mode try using your virus removal.

Also note that you cannot have two virus removal software installed at the same time.

If this does not work you can always find a virus removal program that you boot from so that your OS is not running; therefore, the virus is not running. Which means the virus cannot prevent it's own removal anymore. Hope that makes sense.

These arent the only options but the most basic. Hope it helps. Good luck.

Can you get to the Safe Mode to run your anti-virus software? Can you access the Safe Mode with Networking to download an anti-virus program like Avast or Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from Filehippo.com if you don't have one? If not, see below.

Two thing to try -

Try using the rescue disk from Kaspersky.com. This is a way of getting the computer to boot from this rescue disk instead of the normal method. Go to the site for details.

Found this on a forum, see if it helps. This was my next suggestion, trying to access your USB to run an anti-virus program from a Flash Drive.

If you cannot use the Internet or download any required programs to the infected machine, you are going to need access to another computer (family member, friend, library etc) with an Internet connection. Save mbam-setup.exe to a flash (usb, pen, thumb, jump) drive or CD, transfer it to the infected machine, then install and run the program. If you cannot transfer to or install on the infected machine, try running the setup (installation) file directly from the flash drive or CD by double-clicking on mbam-setup.exe so it will install on the hard drive. If you cannot copy files to your usb drive, make sure its not "Write Protected". Some flash drives have a switch on the side which could have accidentally been moved to write protect.

-- Some types of malware will disable Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and other security tools to keep them from running properly. If MBAM will not install, try renaming it first.

Right-click on the mbam-setup.exe file file and rename it to mysetup.exe. If that did not work, rename it explorer.exe.

Double-click on the renamed file to start the installation.

If that still did not work, then try changing the file extension. <- click this link if you do not see the file extension

If using Windows Vista, refer to these instructions.

Right-click on explorer.exe and change the .exe extension to .scr, .com, .pif, or .bat.

Then double-click on explorer.com (or whatever extension you renamed it) to begin installation.

If after installation, MBAM will not run, open the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder in Program Files.

Right-click on mbam.exe and rename it to wuauclt.exe.

Double-click on wuauclt.exe to launch the program.

If that did not work, then change the .exe extension in the same way as noted above.

Double-click on wuauclt.com (or whatever extension you renamed it) to launch the program.

-- Other types of malware may delete the main mbam.exe executable file during installation or when attempting to perform a scan which results in various errors. One way to resolve this is to:

Download and install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware on a non-infected computer.

After installation, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\ folder where mbam.exe is located.

Copy the mbam.exe file to the Desktop and rename it to wuauclt.exe or explorer.exe.

Save the renamed file to a usb flash drive or CD and transfer to the infected computer.

Place it in the C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder, and then double-click on it to run.

Alternatively, you can download a randomized renamed mbam.exe version (i.e. jdRjuT7Hk.exe) from here and use that.

Go for online virus scanning site. AVG's www.nanoscan.com is the best one i prefer.
